HI THERE!
MY NAME IS DANIEL HOURSTON AND I’M YOUR E-TOUR GUIDE!
I’m originally from the small Orkney Island of Papa Westray.
Papa Westray (locally known as Papay) is only around 4.5 miles long and is home to around 80 residents.
This special little island even has a Guiness World Record – The shortest scheduled flight in the world operates between Papay and the neighbouring island of Westray and with the right conditions, this flight can be completed in under 2 minutes – not much time for an in-flight food and drink service!
I spent all my childhood on Papay but ended up travelling next door to Westray to continue my schooling. I have since moved to Orkney’s Mainland and feel very settled here.
Even though I have grown up and lived in Orkney nearly all my life, I’m still in constant awe of the rich history and jaw-dropping scenery this archipelago has become so famously associated with.
It would be my pleasure to welcome you to Orkney and guide you around the extraordinary place I call home.
How E-Tour Orkney Started
The name E-tour Orkney is derived from ‘Electric Tour Orkney’. This name was chosen when my business launched in 2024 to reference our Electric Bike (E-bike) tours.
Moving on to 2025 and we have branched into another form of electronic tour – in the form of our mobile phone self-guided tour app!
