Embark on an unforgettable journey with E-tour Orkney’s guided electric bike adventures, offering a unique blend of scenic beauty, historical exploration, and cultural immersion.

YOUR ADVENTURE SCHEDULE

0930 Start-time

(please arrive 10-15 mins prior to start time)

  • 0930

    Tour passengers will be picked up by minibus from outside ‘Kirkwall East Church’ at 9:30am. This location is a 5-minute walk from St Magnus Cathedral. Please have identification ready to confirm the booking.

  • 0945

    Depart pick up point and drive out to Birsay. Tour passengers will get on board commentary through areas of interest including Finstown and Dounby.

  • 1015

    Arrive in Birsay. Electric bikes will be given out and adjusted to fit each passenger. Helmets and reflective clothing will be handed out and a safety briefing will be demonstrated.

    Brief cycle towards Earl’s Palace

  • 1050

    Earl’s Palace – brief history with time for self-exploration

  • 1130

    Cycle towards Birsay tea rooms for lunch. Individually selected packed lunches will be provided. Teas/coffees and home-bakes can be purchased here but must be funded by the customer. Café will only be open Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Tours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays will only include the provided packed lunch.

  • 1215

    Back on bikes. Tour will set off cycling in the direction of Kitchener’s memorial (20 minute cycle).

  • 1235

    Arrive at Kitchener’s memorial, include time to set bikes on their stands and walk up to memorial. Up to 30 minutes at the memorial to include an in depth history of the memorial and Lord Kitchener.

  • 1315

    Back on the bikes, head towards HMS TERN (30 minute cycle).

  • 1345

    30 minutes receiving tour at HMS TERN. Allow time to get back on bikes.

  • 1415

    Cycle back towards Birsay. (30 minute cycle).

  • 1445

    Pack bikes away then board bus and head back to ‘East Church Kirkwall’ to drop off tour passengers. Cruise liner passengers are welcome to ask for a drop off nearer their vessel – so long as it is located within Kirkwall.

    The tour is complete.
